Making a website in 2016 is arguably more complicated than it’s ever been. There are more variables to consider than ever, with dozens of web platforms and mobile phone browsers to account for, and smart webmasters want their site to be easily accessible to the largest possible audience. It’s no surprise then that many people choose to have a professional design firm take care of their site for them, and that’s why companies like Big Drop Inc. exist.
New York based Big Drop Inc. began its work five years ago with a small team underCEO Garry Kanfer, and today they staff around 100 employees. Some of their more high caliber clients include Sacs Fifth Avenue, Hudson’s Bay Company and Samsung. Their own website showcases the company’s understanding of modern design needs, with big, centered text and plenty of margin to make sure their site will look great on smartphones, tablets and desktop web browsers. (I tested the site on Android, iPhone and Windows devices, including a Surface tablet and iPad.)
The company showcases a few dozen examples of their “latest work” online, and the design standards are easily recognizable. Eye-catching graphics that span the entire screen and minimized logos focus the user’s attention on the product or service being offered rather than the branding itself, which is important for smaller startups who are trying to one-up competitors. This demonstrates Big Drop’s grasp of web business culture, and according to their own mission statement, that’s exactly what they aim for.
On the about section on Big Drop’s website, they describe their design process as “extensive.” Team members will conduct an analysis of competitors’ sites to help the client “gain an edge” in their target marketplace. The design team is also aware of security vulnerabilities and traffic management, and Big Drop’s own website employs CloudFlare to ensure DDoS protection.
Big Drop boasts over 40 five-out-of-five ratings on Google+ from satisfied clients. Some reviews of the service claim that while the price might be shocking for smaller businesses (more than $10,000 on average), the quality of the work makes shelling out more dough worth while. In the hyper-competitive web market of today, a little extra cash spent in the right place could very well pay off in the long run.
